Services

The SoLLun is just one of the mobile solar and wind powered art installations presented by Sol Systems, LLC. While we feel that the SoLLun is not 'large' enough to serve as a main stage or attraction to an event, just yet, we excel at providing event organizers a very easy and successful 'addition' to a larger event--and we are completely GREEN!

The SoLLun functions best as:

  • a backstage VIP area
  • GREEN room
  • stand-alone bar/vending area
  • chillspace
  • art gallery
  • non-traditional 2nd stage (perfect for fire/silk/stilt performances, or 'pro-whiskey' acoustic sets). Acts that work best are prepared to be immersed in their audience, not just surrounded on all sides but actually standing in the same crowd!
  • electronica dance venue (i.e. DJ's love spinning from the Solar Saucer)
  • etc.
The SoLLun is available for hire and we always are flexible.

The SoLLun Overview

Designed as a completely autonomous attraction (i.e. we can set-up in many places that a traditional exhibit cannot), the SoLLun can accommodate up to 80 people (SRO-standing room only) inside it's main structure and up to 250+ people 'outside' (underneath a large shade structure and around the attraction).

We say completely autonomous because the SoLLun does not require any of the normal 'event' resources that traditional exhibits or installations need:

-We can set-up ourselves without any heavy equipment or 'additional' stagehands or loaders.
-We do not need any electrical 'tie-in' (remember, we supply our own 'clean' power), nor rely on
      house cables.
-Due to the spontaneous and strictly self-producing format, the SoLLun does not draw upon
existing production resources (especially production personnel). We simply set-up and play all by
ourselves. In fact, the SoLLun was the only attraction able to stay 'live' when a flash-flood forced
one festival to shut off the power supply--everything was dark and quiet except the SoLLun.

We have found that the main purpose of the SoLLun is to provide event-goers with an interesting setting to relax, play, and imbibe one of the many 'solar' offerings such as solar powered espresso, solar powered organic juice smoothies, or a solar brewed mate'. People have come to know the SoLLun as a favorite 'chillspace' because of the suspended hammocks and living room atmosphere. Plus, when hired in full, the cast of the SoLLun are purely some of the most fun people around! Artists, performers, educators, and creative thinkers, the SoLLun residents inspire others and positively infect people with a playful, healthy vibe.

Yet the SoLLun is not always just for relaxing.

We have provided the setting for a number of organzied workshops:

     -Aerial Silk Dancing
     -Firespinning
     -Stiltwalking and dancing
     -Crystals and Minerals
-Solar 101: An Introduction to basic solar electricity and systems
-Formal discussions on the viability of 'clean' living and what we can do, now, at home.

At night, the SoLLun has hosted a number of fantastic (and usually spontaneous) dance parties. Visiting friends who also happen to be DJs simply cannot resist the chance to "fly in the cockpit"--or our 'house' DJs jump in for a familiar ride. These scenarios tend to attract other passers-by and the dance party spills out of the SoLLun to the 'area' under the shade structure and in front of the Saucer. We can roll up the cover on the dome so people inside are connected to those outside. People love the 'non-tradtional' stage format, which encourages interactivity and exploring the area. We have had dancers up on the bar, hanging from the dome, swinging in the hammocks, and climbing all over the saucer!

The
best thing is that it all runs off of clean power harnessed and stored right there at the event!
We love showing people the whole set-up. They can see the panels and the windmill,  the wires connecting to the batteries and the inverter, etc.

The SoLLun will help make your event more sustainable, more
GREEN and more FUN!

Sustainability and Fair Trade

Since we are extremely motivated by sustainability and fair trade, we are always flexible with regards to payment plans and overall costs. Please contact us to discuss your event. There are many factors involved in our fair price quotes and we always negotiate with an 'open-door' policy--meaning we divulge all of our costs and desires in order for both parties to come to an agreeable contract. We let you know exactly how much it costs us to travel, set-up, and produce the exhibit. We can provide a detailed cost sheet that outlines the value of each piece of 'equipment' if needed--although most of our equipment are actually unique 'priceless' pieces of art.

Details

While the SoLLun can be set-up independently of the other Sol System installations, we have discovered that it "shines brightest" when all of the components are installed together (i.e. we highly recommend to event organizers and sponsors to spring for the whole shebang).
